The small round shield is a favorite among small-sized fighters. There are many fighters out there with a smaller frame than most other warriors, and they may feel that most shields are too large and un-maneuverable. The small round shield solves that problem, enabling the small-sized fighter to have good coverage for their torso and thighs, while not being so cumbersome that the warrior’s shield arm gets tired and sore, and not disabling the fighter from making fast moves or trick shots.

The Small Round Shield is a versatile shield. Not too big that it would tire someone out, but still providing some quick protection. It doesn’t really compare to the bigger shields in terms of coverage, but it is still better than a buckler and can be great for those who want to be lighter on their feet.
The strap allows you to keep your off-hand free for a dagger or just loosely open so it’s not tired as if you were holding a punch shield. Some rulesets, such as Amtgard rules, would make me more inclined to buy a punch shield just so it’s easier to drop an injured limb’s kit but the strap is still awesome.
The only problem with this item that I’ve found it the thin foam on the wooden board, meant to give a soft cushion for your arm, isn’t very well secured and will come off pretty quickly.
Pros:
Great for newcomers!
Light
Versatile
Sturdy
ForgedFoam quality (superb!)
Neutral:
A bit on the small side for a shield compared to the bigger shields
Good for those with a smaller frame, but not as good for those who are a bit bigger
Cons:
The foam insulator for your arm is flimsy and not well secured
